Batman and Wrestling

Trying to keep myself busy over the past few weeks has been interesting, and has seen me doing some unusual things. I've spent several weekends with my lady friend, had my hair coloured, and went to see a live wrestling event at NAIT... and that's just the stuff I remember off the top of my head.

Batman Begins is an awesome movie. Go see it if you haven't. It has seriously become my favourite super hero movie, and I've seen it twice in a two-week period. Chrisitan Bale makes a fantastic lead, and Cillian Murphey is a wonderfully creepy Scarecrow. Gary Oldman also manages the best Commissioner Gordon (then Sgt. Gordon) I've seen on the big screen.

But enough about Batman.

I went and saw the Prarie Wrestling Alliance's big summer show a few weeks ago. A decent local wrestling federation that runs shows out of the NAIT main gym. They've got alot of passion in the ring, more so than many more mainstream wrestlers (such as those in the WWE) do. Well worth the price of admission, and I'm already making plans to see their next show in a few weeks.

Notably, the ladder match between The Funky Bunch and New Karachi Vice was awesome. My friends and I managed to get mentioned in the match writeup on Slam! Wrestling, we were the guys at ringside who stood up and chanted "Please don't die!" at Marky Mark and Phoenix Taylor. It might also be worth mentioning that Marky Mark is Y2Jago's boss at Radio Sha... I mean the Source by Circuit City.

Being ringside at a wrestling event is awesome in itself. When the wrestlers can actually hear what you have to say to them, it's a lot more fun. At one point, I was booing a heel wrestler called Evan Inferno, and he came right over to me and demanded "How can you boo me? I'm a REAL man!" I can honestly say that I've never been punked out by a wrestler until then.

Then again during the street fight match between Synn and Tex Gaines, Synn staggered over to lean on the ring barricade in front of me, gushing blood from his face, and I was shouting at him to get right back in there and kick some ass. He seemed to appreciate it. Or maybe he was light-headed.

I also managed to get Lance Storm's autograph. Pretty good night of wrestling! I'll see about getting some more friends to come next time to support them.

Good times. Anywho, I need to cut this post short here, but I'll try and do another update this week.

Limbo

I know I haven't really updated in a week or so, but good god I feel like I'm floating in limbo.

Staying in the basement of my aunt and uncle's house, deep in a part of town I'm unfamiliar with... and only for a month.

I can't seem to let myself get comfortable because it'll just make moving again at the end of the month more of a hassle, so I spend as much of my time as I can away from the house. Hence, not really being around to update the Bomb Shelter.

Oh well. I'll be out of my limbo-like existance soon enough, but until then, don't expect too many posts.

Car "Trouble"

So, my mom was in an automobile accident on Sunday, at the intersection of 156th street and St. Albert Trail.

We were on the final day of the move, and had just loaded up my dad's car, my mom's jimmy and Nita's car with the last of our things. The dog, Zack went with my dad to drop off some videos at Roger's, while Nita and I followed my mom (truck laden with our cloths and things) to my aunt and uncle's home where we're spending the month.

We arrived at the intersection to see a red light. My mom slowed to stop, but the light turned green so she sped back up to continue through the intersection. Then someone turned left into her driver's side.

I swear, it happened in slow motion from where I was sitting. Nita and I sat stunned for a second, before I drove on through the intersection and parked on the corner, then bolted across the street to where the wrecks of the car and jimmy were obstructing most traffic through the intersection.

Fortunately no one was injured. My mom's a little sore in the chest where the seatbelt caught her (a lesson to all you lax seatbelters) and a little shaken, but okay otherwise. The jimmy, alas, may not make it.

A few notes on that day.

My friend Spider showed, once again, that he is Mr. Reliable. He came up from the south side with his dad's mini-van and helped move the stuff out of the back of the jimmy and to our new "home".

I totally got sunburned from standing in the intersection, helping my mom and filling out the police reports.

The firemen were congratulating themselves for beating the police and ambulance people out the scene.

In the end of the day though, everyone was unhurt, so I suppose it wasn't too bad.

My 101 in 1001 page has been updated too, and (obviously) my computer is back up and running so I can post some more. I'll likely post on the Northern Alberta International Children's Festival sometime soon.
